In the Spotlight
Christmas in the Adobes, 2012
December 6th & 8th
Stroll through 23 historic adobes throughout downtown Monterey. Learn to fandango at Custom House or try the tea and shortbread at Robert Louis Stevenson House while listening to Scottish bagpipes. This is Monterey's signature holiday event and fun for the entire family.
Cooper Store
The Cooper Store, located in the Cooper Molera Adobe complex, is designed to resemble a nineteenth century mercantile store. It is a resource for publications on early California history and merchandise offered by local artists. Profits from the store go to support the many programs that MSHPA, in conjunction with the state parks staff, offer throughout the year. These programs such as Christmas in the Adobes, Living History Days, and the Los Niño's for children offer residents and guests a chance to see life as it was in 1865. The store is run by volunteers many of whom dress in period costume to keep the store ambiance alive.
